Gary returns to Huntingdon Art Gallery following a successful year of exhibitions and commissions including the Pie Factory in Margate and his first book cover! (Look out for sci fi novel ‘The Pollutant Speaks’ by Alex Cochran.)
His solo show brings you a host of famous faces in his signature style – using his subjects’ own words to create their image. There’s poetry to Gary’s process as well as his impactful finished artworks, which reward you with every glance; with more to see and understand the longer and closer you look.
Gary loves to keep his work affordable for his collectors, so develops limited edition prints of his original artworks. For this solo show he unveils his much-anticipated latest original drawing alongside several of his most popular prints.
All artwork is for sale. Enquiries welcome.
About the Artist: Gary Dadd
‘Through all my life, I’ve been fascinated by how words and pictures work together. I loved graphic novels as a teenager, did a dissertation on words and pictures in my Cambridge university degree and taught teachers to teach words through pictures to non-verbal children. It comes as no surprise to me that now I like to draw people through handwriting.’
Gary’s journey to being a full-time artist started with a sudden serious illness which prompted him to ask why he wasn’t making his passion his career. Since then, his practice has expanded to include solo and group shows in Cambridge, London, Margate (his home town, and that of Tracy Emin) and Los Angeles. He takes commissions for individuals and organisations including universities and international corporations.
